Seattle

I recently had to take a whirlwind trip to Seattle for business. It was fun to revisit old favourites like the market, Ace Hotel and do some last minute shopping.
Miss Y and I indulged in the best dessert I have had in a long time: a banana flambe set in coconut icecream. Unbelievable!

art on craig's list

I saw this in the free section in craig's list, it is an ad for a free stove. I don't know if the owners realize that the image looks like a great piece of art.

много лютива (or upcoming new screenings)

I am happy to report that my short film Put Your Slippers On is going
to be screened at Cinema Politica in London, Ontario and the Canadian Civilization Museum in Ottawa. If you are in the area, pop in to see it, it is part of the Digital Diversity festival.

The photo above is in step with the film's main subject-my grandmother. She is still going strong with leaving me notes everywhere. I found this one when I opened the
fridge yesterday. It says "very hot", it was a roasted pepper resting on a napkin. Love it!

Early Valentine?

I usually lock my bike downstairs at work. Today I found eight beautiful onions in the basket of my bicycle. An early Valentine perhaps?

North Van

There is something about a place one knows dearly and closely. North Vancouver is the place that is dear for me. Like a protective blanket. Strange, I know. But when I take the seabus over the water, I fall into a vacuum. This is the place where my grandmother and mother live, is where I grew up, is where my work history was formed. I feel comfortable there. A big fish in a small pond. I did a talk yesterday at my old college there, I saw my old professors it was so great to reminiscent again about art and talk about new ideas, I saw old school mates, it was great to discuss their work and meet new students whose spirit I absolutely loved. I then I made my way to my old gallery and it was again a great comforting experience to see old faces and meet new ones. The mayor was there, he was wondering how I was doing, I told him that I was in Mexico and I submitted my picture for the North Shore News' feature of North Vancouverites around the world and he promised to look out for it. I left feeling comfortable and coddled by this community. I guess I will always be a North Van girl.
