I am still working out the kinks with Flickr. Together with taking Italian lessons, a pottery class and learning a bit of gardening is a lot of new information to take in.

flickr

I found myself saying at work to our summer students: "...When I was your age there was no internet at school..and so on" . I felt so old. Anyway, I am saying this because I can not for the life of me figure out how to put this flickr badge on my blog. So I am posting it, I hope it works.
In other news, A. and I went out in her brand new vintage BMW convertible tonight. So much fun! She was blasting " Girls just want to have fun" on her vintage tape deck and I was hiding. Everyone was looking at us and I felt like we were in a 80's sitcom about two girls in a white vintage convertible listening to Cyndi Lauper. Reality and pop culture clashing so close.

Selective strawberry picking

I am not sure if it was a coincidence or not but as I was picking and listening to my ipod, whenever Dolly Parton came on, I found a massive strawberry patch. They seem to show in copious amounts especially to tunes from "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". Indie rock on the other hand did not do anything to speed up production.

Missing

I went strawberry picking today with my grandmother but more about that later. I got home sunburned and quickly fell slightly sad. I couldn't quite figure out why, as I had a great day. Strawberry picking, my granny picking daisies, wine tasting, getting lost in Abotsford, feeling the sun on my skin. I had some friends over for dinner and told A. that I was longing for Sicily like I would for a lover. After some busty reds and cuban cigars we went to the Portuguese Club to share the celebrations. (I am still getting over France's win over Brazil). On the way we walked by the "Astorinos Club" which usually holds some kind of Italiana celebration. Well, tonight there was a wedding in full force. Couple of guys invited us in and it was like entering another world. The dance floors occupied by the overzealous thirteen year old cousin, the bored bride in the corner, the groomsmen dancing with their bow ties hanging from their collars, two grannies wearing all black in the corner polishing off the rest of the cake and us clutching our gin and tonics. I felt great. The kitsch was overwhelming, and I revel in it. The fake fog, Bonnie Tyler, an impromptu limbo competition all seem to complete the picture of the tired wedding party. I felt like I got the feel for my longed lover.
